Florida bound

10 Summer 027 (2)  This is my first attempt at writing a blog.  In fact, to be terribly honest, I haven't even seen one before.  Which leads me to confess, this is how I have lived most of my life - just jump in!

My partner, JB, and I have been together for a couple years. After I started fixing up his 24 year old boat this spring, he told me he bought "Southern Belle" to take down the intracoastal waterway some day.  Since I turned down the opportunity as a child in 1962, it has been on my "Bucket List". Jumping in, I responded, "You found your mate!"

So we have spent the summer thinking of all the things we needed to make "Belle" safer and more comfortable.  Like fixing the many leaks!  We estimated how much it would cost for gas and marinas, but never calculated how it would deflate our savings to purchase charts, back up bilge pumps, more charts, folding bikes, computer equipment, and internet connection.  In fact, we better go soon, before we run out of gas money!

While we plan to leave for Florida on his 37' Trojan power boat the end of October, we are aged enough to realize (forgive me) "plans are made to be broken". Meanwhile, we keep losing things.  Or maybe it is better said, we can't find things.  At any rate, with all of the things we are trying to accomplish before we depart, our days seem to be filled with "I can't find ....", "Have you seen ..."  With both of us having difficulty finding our things or each others things, JB asked me last night, "DO YOU THINK WE WILL FIND FLORIDA?"

Need I tell you, I laughed for the longest time and having a name for our blog about our adventures has prompted me to give this a try while checking another item off the "To Do" list!
