Campbell Creek to Morehead City, NC

PB080052

About 5:30 this morning the generator ran out of fuel.  JB went outside to refuel and found frost on “Belle”!  We just can’t get out of this cold front.  We sure hope Florida will give us a better greeting.

Anchor up at 6:30, to another sunny day.  A pleasant run on the Nuese River and another canal, not so primitive.  JB wanted to refuel, fill the water tank and get a pump out. So we stopped at the Morehead City Yacht Basin.  So far gas has been just under $3/gal with cash and/or Boat US discounts.  But we have traveled 292 miles, burned 422 gal of gas and spent $1,267.  Calculating this one way trip to be 900 miles we have gone about 1/3 of the way and spent almost half what we estimated!  It’s only money.  Anyone want their kitchen remodeled next summer?

We decided to go out for a late lunch and spend the night at the marina.  I also got to do laundry and we had a wonderful long shower on land in clean restrooms.  Made friends with more boaters at this very nice marina.  And get this, we also have cable TV so I can watch “Dancing with the Stars!”

For those who have asked for coordinates, we are at 34 degrees 43N, 76degrees 42W.  We plan to be in Wrightsville to visit JB’s Uncle Nelson and Aunt Kay Wed.  It’s only 85 miles away, but we will be fighting inlet currents and bridge openings tomorrow.
