The weather forecast for today was for 20-30 knot wind and thunderstorms in the afternoon.  So we left Elizabeth City at 7:30a.m. for the five hour journey down the Albemarle Sound to the Alligator River Marina.  Our coordinates are 35degrees N, 76degrees W.  The thunder started about two hours after we arrived.  For once, we were glad we ducked in for bad weather. (Previously we did this based on NOAA forecasts and the wind never came!)

I added some photos to the previous posts so you may want to scroll down.  Let me know how I can give you information and photos that you would like.

After freezing for two days and two nights at 52 degrees inside “Belle” I insisted JB turn the lower heater on.  We have two reverse cycle A/C units.  One heats the upstairs which consists of the salon or sofa area; the other heats the downstairs galley, dining and stateroom.  He was adamant that the lower unit did not heat even though the A/C worked.  After threats to jump ship, he finally listened this afternoon. We now have a wonderfully, cozy home at 72 degrees while it is raining outside.

Tomorrow we plan to leave early for a 50 mile run down the Alligator River to Belhaven, NC.  It is another narrow, but very primitive passage according to our guide book.  Weather permitting, I’ll take more photos.
