Wrightsville to Myrtle Beach, SC - mm375

PB110005 The day started out wonderfully warm and sunny.  It was such a great day we decided to beat our all time distance of 80 miles and go 90 miles.  It proved to be a very long day from 6:45am to 5:15pm.  JB is beat. I’m tired.  We anchored after sunset with several other boats on the backside of an island off the ICW. We started the day at 285mm and we are now at 375mm.  No cell phone coverage tonight.

PB110014 Along the way we went under most bridges and stopped for a pontoon bridge and a couple swing bridges.  Of interest was one boat just north of the North Carolina state line that got boarded by the Coast Guard as it was waiting for a bridge that only opened on the hour.  The captain was assured it wouldn’t take that long.  But the next thing we knew they were walking a dog around the boat.  Four boats went around him to go through the swing bridge.  JB said he made it through, but it was too far away for me to see.

PB110025 It seems like I spent most of my day going up and down the ladder to the bridge. Bringing things either way.  I did take some photos.  Even got a couple of photos of water towers for Wil and Molly!  As we passed Myrtle Beach for ten miles the area was built up with condominium marinas and huge homes one after the other.  It was incredible!  Then we started seeing Cypress trees along the water and trees with Spanish Moss hanging on them.  Behind the waterfront trees were small, older homes.

We have gone 455 miles in eight days and we have another 400 miles to get to St. Augustine for Thanksgiving. We realize now that Stuart, Fl is further than we thought!  Maybe it would help if we got a Florida chart.
